Event: Nightmare on Elm Street Re-released in Theaters

So, I ran across this and thought it was pretty cool. Evidently, New Line Cinemas is going to be re-releasing the original 1984 movie Nightmare on Elm Street as a tie-in with a new dvd special edition that is being released soon. It is only going to be shown on September 20th and September 21st in select theaters. A little over 100 theaters are participating in the re-release and thankfully it seems the showings are pretty spread out. I just hate it when a "limited release" means the film will only be shown in LA and NYC. The movie will be shown in four theaters here in Ohio, which is astounding compared to past limited release films' placement. (That's when Indianapolis doesn't seem that far from Dayton.)

I am by no means a die-hard Nightmare on Elm Street fan. Actually, I find the horror genre to be pretty blasé. Most (not all) of them are pure formulaic exploitation films. Good horror films need an interesting plot and not just filler for "cool" death scenes. (I'm looking at you Final Destination.) However, the original Nightmare on Elm Street is better than 95% of the recent entries in the genre. So, relive the 80s for a night if you're up to it...

I hope you like...
